Our product range

Olivine supplies a diverse range of businesses, organisations and organisation sectors.

If we were to point out dominant industry relationships then hospitality and industrial baking sectors would stand out on account of our supplies of bakers fats e.g. Margeen Primex, Ricco Paafex (puff pastry). Olivine also supplies Palm Stearine, a versatile material used in both non-edible and edible products, and other critical components such as flavours, emulsifiers and vitamins.

Oil seed products

Olivine Industries processes oilseeds to produce cooking oils, margarines, bakers’ fats and soya meat chunks. Extraction and refining is carried out at Olivine’s Willowvale site in Harare. This is followed by blending and hydrogenation at the Birmingham Road plant.

• Vegetable oils: All of the oil produced (dominated by the flagship Olivine brand) is derived from soya beans and cottonseed. Other cooking oil brands produced include Panol, Soyola, Sunseed, Mazola and Vegol which are available in 12×750ml, 12×500ml, 8×2l, 4×5l and 20litre pack sizes.
•  Margarine: Olivine manufactures margarines under the Buttercup, Harvest brands. Margarine is available in 24×250g, 24×500g, 9×1kg, 6×2kg and 30kg pack sizes. Olivine’s top-of-the-range Buttercup brand lays claim to a major share of the Zimbabwean market, and is an acclaimed success in the COMESAsub-region.
•  Bakers’ fats: A variety of baking aids are manufactured at the company’s Birmingham Road factory such as Kwikol tin greasing emulsion, Paafex puff pastry fat, Primex as well as a number of other products for specific application in the confectionery industry.
• Soya meat chunks: Olivine also packs soya meat chunks under the Soyola brand and these are available in 24×500g and 12×1kg pack sizes.

Soaps and candles

Olivine is a major producer of laundry and toilet soaps, many of which are brand leaders in Zimbabwe and well-known within the region. These include the Big Ben, Perfection and Dolphin and Brown Bar in the laundry range and Jade, Daily Health and Charm in the toilet range. Olivine also manufactures and markets fluted candles under the Luna brand. Olivine also produces fully refined, deodorized glycerine, which has wide applications in pharmaceutical and body care products, paints etc. and is well regarded for its consistency and high quality.

Canned foods, condiments & sauces

Olivine has a wide variety of consumer and industrial brands manufactured by its subsidiary company, Chegutu Canners and marketed under the Olivine, Green Valley, Holbrooks, Fortris, Cartwrights and Colman’s brands. The range includes baked beans, tomato sauce, dry beans, jams & marmalades, tomato paste, puree and juice, chutneys & sauces, vinegar & curries, health drinks and canned fruits.
